Big hugs to all the single mums currently in isolation with their children, holding it down.
I see you.
I see your brave smile
The one that reaches your cheeks
But never quite brightens your eyes.
I see you
I see your slow, measured walk
Well rehearsed
Taking it one step at a time:
That's it
First one
Then the other.
I see you
Holding yourself together
With your your arms, clothes,
Bandages for your broken soul
Words, lies, truth, all unfold
Anything to plug the gap, to fill the hole
Because you are wounded
Walking amongst the living
The laughing, the lying,
With your insides bleeding
With your heart slowly dying
Unseen
You've covered your core with layers
So many layers that sometimes
Just sometimes
You can forget that the wounds are still there
Festering
But when the night comes
And the doubts come
They dance on your scars
Until they tear again
Oozing
Weeping
Because they never ever healed
In the first place.
I see you
Walking
Wounded
Wandering
Wondering whether you'll ever find your way home.
Keep walking
Walk this way
The ease will come
Come what may.
You just have to believe
And let it in.
Allah will aid you in this time, my sister, and reward you for the noble, difficult, lonely, precious work you are doing.
Keep your head up and be kind to yourself. 💕
